Pear Tree Nursery opens £10,000 Frog Room

Longtown's Pear Tree Nursery unveiled a new £10,000 classroom this week.
The purpose-built classroom, which has been paid for through an Awards for All lottery grant, has more space for the nursery’s pre-school children to brush up on their numeracy and literacy skills.
Children will also be able to use the room for role-play sessions and other learning activities, helping the nursery meet new play-based learning requirements in the curriculum.
A ribbon was cut in The Frog Room on Tuesday. Manager Vigdis Mykland said: “It is all newly decorated, lovely and light and bright. Everybody loves it, parents, staff and especially the kids.”
The nursery, next to Longtown Primary School, Mary Street, is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
Parents can contact Vigdis on 01228 791005.
