OUR readers reacted to the news that a deli in Carlisle will close for good.
First We Eat, on Fisher Street, has held a closing down sale, selling the last of its artisanal wares at a discount.
Here's what readers thought.
Liam Mulholland said: "The high street as we knew it is now dead, it's time to move on and stop wanting to go back to what it used to be like. The definition of a modern city centre needs to change as we simply do not need space for shops anymore."
Bernadette Ivison said: "Such a lovely shop and nice owners," while Abbie Gray said: "I’ll have to make sure to go in before it closes."
Karen Hands added: "Such a shame. A great shop with lovely products and friendly staff."
Angela Mumsie Winter said: "There are so many negative comments about Carlisle, and yes, a lot are justified, but please bear in mind, it isn’t only happening here, this is a nationwide problem, which I think was exacerbated by the pandemic."
One web user commented: "This was always going to be a struggle. I don't know anyone involved, but I'm pretty sure they invested blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of cash. I hope they can walk away without being financially crippled."
