Bid to make Hadrian's Wall first Fairtrade Zone

Brampton Fairtrade Group has set its sights on making Hadrian’s Wall the first world heritage Fairtrade Zone.

The group has already conquered the town drumming up support and convincing residents and shops to buy ethically.

In a bid to gain the same status for the heritage sight, the group is organising a series of walks along the wall.

The walks, of varying length and difficulty, will take place on August 15, all ending in Walltown Crags for a picnic with Fairtrade snacks and a special certificate to mark the completion of the walk.

All the walks will be led by experienced walkers.

The programme includes a 12km walk from Housesteads to Walltown Crags; a 6km walk from Birdoswald to Walltown and a special circular walk for families of approximately 1km around Walltown Crags.
