WITH Carlisle's House of Fraser set to close this spring, the building is now up for let.

Carlisle’s long-established store first put up the closing down sale signs in February this year.

Whilst an official date has yet to be confirmed, the signs indicated that the shop would be closing sometime in May.

The closure comes after the city centre building was sold for £750,000 in 2023.

Despite the store's closure, it has been reported that it will not affect Caffé Nero.

The prime retail unit at 26-40 English Street up for let is offering various floor plates for an array of uses.

The various floor plates in the property are available to let on new leases for a term of years to be negotiated.

Accommodation across the property totals 8,867 sq m (95,446 sq ft), which includes the ground floor, basement, and three upper floors.

According to the Valuation Office Agency, the property is labeled with a listed Rateable Value of £307,500 for the 2023/2024 rate year.

Carigiet Cowan is currently listing the property on their website.

"The property is arranged over five floors and currently fitted out for department store use and would be suitable for a variety of uses subject to planning," the listing reads.

"The space is suitable for a variety of uses including retail, leisure, office and residential."
