A Brampton secondary school has said that it is 'very proud' of its students who performed in Spain over the Easter holidays.
51 students from William Howard School embarked on the Spanish trip which involved trips to Barcelona, Girona as Tossa de Mar, and live performances at Poble Espanol and Loret de Mar.
The trip also saw the students take in some time in the sun at the beach opposite their hotel at Santa Susanna and hold their annual talent show which was hosted at a local cafe.
Susanna Cooper, director of performing arts led the trip and discussed the recent achievements of the group in Spain and also closer to home.
She said: "We are very proud of all our musicians, not only did they perform so well in Spain, but the William Howard School choir also achieved first place in the recent Carlisle and District Music and Drama Festival.
"We’re now looking forward to more performances this term in venues closer to home, such as The Source in Carlisle."
Music teacher, Sara Maclachlan was also part of William Howard School group which enjoyed the trip to Spain and piled the praise on the students who wowed locals with their live performances.
"It was just brilliant.
"It was great to see the students getting along together so well, as well as seeing them performing together.
"Children from local schools came to watch the performances too, which was lovely.
"It was such a shame we had to cancel our third and final concert because of heavy rain."
Year eight student Hettie Hawkin, who is in the school's choir as well as the school’s rock band, was one of the 51 students who took part in the music-focused trip and expressed her delight at being part of the trip and highlighted her favorite moments from the experience.
She said: "For me, the highlight of the trip was the performances.
"The locals were so lively and danced along, and we had some pretty big crowds.
"I went on the trip last year as part of the choir but this time, being a singer in the rock band, I was more on the spot.
"It was a bit nerve-wracking but once I was performing, it was fine."
