We're highlighting the shortlisted cafes in our competition in the News & Star. Each of the establishments will be featured over ten issues.

THE Bobbin Coffee Shop has been nominated by News & Star readers as one of the ten finalists in its 'Best Cafe 2024' award.

The cafe is located in Linton House on Carlisle's Shaddongate and is overseen by manager Lynsey Brunton has taken steps to modernise the local favourite.

These steps have included the introduction of a new menu which includes a bespoke breakfast menu and items such as a quiche of the day. 

After learning of The Bobbin's nomination for 'Best Cafe 2024' by News & Star readers, Lynsey was on hand to express her gratitude to all those who put the local cafe forward.

She said: "We are over the moon to hear our customers have voted for us and we have made the top 10.

"The Bobbin has very proudly been serving our city for over 30 years this year.

"The Bobbin really is a wonderful part of our community and we have come so far after surviving two floods and all the restrictions during and after COVID-19.

"Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to nominate us, it honestly means the world, and thank you for your continued love and support.

Lynsey also highlighted how The Bobbin has blended classic favorites with modern treats to continue captivating local cafe-goers.

"Our famous homemade Lemon Meringue pie and Cheese scones are still a staple here along with some new favourites including our very sought-after coffee puffs.

"All our food is freshly prepared and baked ourselves by our hard-working kitchen staff, a lot of the recipes we use are our own family recipes so it really means that much more to us when we get lovely feedback about our cakes and bakes.

"Our Afternoon Teas have been incredibly popular this year, we have had so many baby showers and special occasion bookings some months we are fully booked already.

"We are super busy which is wonderful and we have loads of regulars who have been coming so long to us they feel like part of the family."
