Teenage Carlisle boxing champion John Joe Carrigan has added yet another gold medal to his growing collection.
The Border City Amateur Boxing Club star’s latest outing for England saw him victorious in the Republic of Ireland.
Carrigan, 16, outboxed home favourite Alex Noonan in the Dual Nations event in County Waterford.
The young Cumbrian claimed a unanimous points victory in the 70kg category at Dungarvan Sports Centre.
It was a seventh victory from seven bouts in an England vest for Carrigan as he continues to impress for the national boxing set-up.
In the summer the Todhills boxer became European champion with a memorable victory in the EUBC Junior Championships in Romania.
On his England debut, the Carlisle boxer won the European title by defeating Albania’s Koci Amhed.
It was a landmark victory in Carrigan’s promising boxing career after a series of domestic titles on a national and regional level earned him his England chance.
