Choirboy Andy’s got the talent for TV

RUGBY-PLAYING Carlisle choirboy Andy Johnston will star on a TV talent show tomorrow night.
The 13-year-old, head chorister at Carlisle Cathedral, has sung all over the world and now makes his first TV appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.
Andy, from Stanwix, Carlisle, said: “I got into singing about seven years ago when my singing teacher said that I had a good voice. I joined the choir and have visited Hungary, Poland, and Ireland. I performed a solo in the Basilica in Budapest and really enjoyed it.
“I’m in Year Eight at school now and at the end of the year I will have to leave the choir.
“I will miss it – and miss my friends – but I will keep singing, maybe my whole life.”
The Trinity School pupil says he loves singing – but it comes second to the real love of his life: rugby union. Andy said:
Britain’s Got Talent airs at 8pm tomorrow.
