Hey kids, it’s a jungle out there!

CHILDREN at Hayton CE Primary School have been learning how to survive in the jungle.
Seven and eight-year-olds at the school near Brampton used canes to make themselves a shelter large enough to stand up in.
This week the pupils, who have been studying design and technology, got to see their designs come to life, with the help of Architecture Workshops, run by Bob Bower from Hexham, to complement the National Curriculum.
Teacher Mark Ashton said: “They learned all about the best way to design them, for instance making triangles rather than squares for extra strength.
“Then they got hands-on and worked in teams to build the shelters with canes and elastic bands. It’s good for them to see their design through to the finish.
“It’s all very well standing at the front and telling them, but it’s once they actually do it themselves that it sinks in. They found it very challenging.”
