Lines to ease car parking

THE cobble stones surrounding Brampton’s Moot Hall could soon be painted with white lines in an attempt to remedy the parking shortage in the town.
Parish councillors agreed the move at a meeting last week.
They had previously asked for the cornish sets alone to be painted, but county councillor Lawrence Fisher informed chairman Judith Pattinson that unless full bays were painted, parking regulations could not be enforced.
Mr Fisher said: “The city can’t enforce parking regulations if the bays are not marked out.
“If they are not properly marked and somebody got a parking ticket they could appeal against it.”
Mrs Pattinson added: “I had a concern about the white lines not looking nice.
“But it doesn’t look nice with all the cars parked there either.”
She added that more spaces could be created if the bays were properly marked, and said: “The consensus is that we will have to have it all white lined then parking can be enforced.”
