Have your say

I was born in Gloucester Road, Currock and later lived at Upperby Road.Went to the Creighton, worked as a Q.S. for Laing and transferred to the NE in 1956.
I married a Northumbrian - Gloria and we arrived in Vancouver in 1967. We had three children and in the early years built ourselves a West Coast style house on 1.3 acres. Had the usual pony, horse, 3 pigs, chickens, ducks rabbits etc., very happy times. As we had bush around us we had visits from the animals, deer, screech owls, skunks, bears, etc., so the children when returning from school had to stop at the top of the driveway and shout and be noisy so as not to suprise any bears. On one occasion the Government Hunter was brought in as a Cougar was hanging around the trails used for horse riding.
Travelled extensively around BC - tent camping, even in snow.
Changing economy, sold the Acreage and later that year built another house, from a picture in Readers Digest that George Washington lived in.
Left and worked in Fiji in 1995, unfortunately circumstances shortened it to 8 months, again a wonderful experience, made many friends, Fijian, Fiji Indian and European.
We now live in New Westminster, in a ground floor apartment right on the Fraser River, our first 2 homes had creeks, now we have the mighty Fraser 30 feet away.
We have enjoyed holidays in BC., Alberta,Europe, USA, Fiji, Samoa, Cook Islands, Tonga,Trinidad and Tobago, Granada etc., and recently to Ecuador travelling independently by local buses. I try to get Home (Carlisle) about every 2 years, my Dad is now 92, I feel embraced by the City each visit albeit for a few days. It is so pleasant to renew old friendships and see that all is well.
Life has had ups and downs but not dull - same wife good kids withh 2 grandchildren.
Thank you Carlisle for a good life in my early years which perhaps sowed the seeds for a good life since.

It's nine years since I left Carlisle but never forgotten my friends and family.I now live in the NE of Thailand, close to the Laos border.Present weather is HOT.9-15am and 29 degrees and getting hotter.
I work as an English teacher in a local government school which is hard work but also quite funny when you hear Thai kids speaking with a Carlisle accent.
I was a regular in the Ukranian club, the Sailor and the Blue Lugs and I miss my Sunday lunch time with my mates.

It's a nice life over her.I built a house for my partner and myself. We farm rice, mango and bamboo shoots. We have taken in 5 stray dogs that take care of security for us.My 18 month old daughter calls me radgie instead of dad, so a bit of Carlisle twang coming from her already.
Just want to say hi to Martin,Stevie and the rest of the lads.Cheers Willie

Is it fair that nuisance bikers should have their machines confiscated and crushed?

Yes, they are a menace and problem

No, it's out of all proportion to what their riders have done
