CUMBRIAN young farmers made the county proud during the national entertainments final in Blackpool at the weekend.
It was the third time in a row that members of the Raughton Head club made it through to the finals of the competition to represent their county.
Their show, called For England, was fast, furious and packed with variety.
Graham Holliday, county chairman and one of the actors, said family and friends had travelled all around the country supporting the cast in county, regional and national heats.
It took around two years to perfect the sketch, which was directed by Ian Blamire. Members not only wrote it but also made the scenery and costumes.
Mr Holliday said: “We’ve been in the national finals before and we know what the judges want to see and what the standard is.
“It’s got be snappy, fast, funny and slick. Of all the young farmers’ competitions, I would always push entertainments.
“It brings the whole club together and brings everyone’s confidence on.”
The competition was won by a team from Cornwall and the Cumbrians came fifth.
