MEDITERRANEAN miniature donkeys, llamas and alpacas drew a family-dominated crowd to Carlisle’s Borderway Mart last Friday.
Breeders and enthusiasts travelled from as far south as Dorset and Cornwall for the sale.
The donkeys from the Red Oak herd based in Gorey, Ireland, reached a top price of 4,600gns for Prairie Brae April Mist. Her new home is in Gloucestershire with R Overthrow of Newent.
The alpacas from Renwick, near Penrith, were next in the ring. Three lots reached 1,800gns.
There was also the dispersal of llamas from the Rowett herd, from Aberdeen.
A highlight of the sale was a yearling female called Toffee who went for 1,100 gns.
