Bored soldiers in medieval Britain are thought to have invented to game of darts by hurling arrows at the cover of a wine barrel.
Today, there’s hardly a self-respecting hostelry around that doesn’t have a dart board and teams are active in leagues all over Cumbria, helping to keep the ailing pub industry afloat.
