Control: Castletown Blues on the attack

The victory was a team effort from Castletown with seven different players scoring.

Keswick keeper Thomas Graham was called on early in the game, when he palmed a low shot wide of the post. From the corner, however Anthony Bailey was able to force the ball into the net. A second goal soon followed when Daniel Sinkinson nodding home.

Castletown were well on top but Graham was on form between the Keswick sticks, blocking Sam Dudson’s shot with his body. But Dudson scored soon after, beating Graham one-on-one to make the score 3-0.

Ben Dixon scored a great goal for the hosts, driving Peter Crag’s good corner into the net. A few minutes later, a Castletown forward was brought down in the box and a penalty was given. But the opportunity for a fifth goal was squandered. However, Greg Hall fired his team into a 5-0 half-time lead.

Keswick started off the second half much more positively compared to their poor first showing. They appeared to have plugged the gap in their back line, and were able to begin to build up some attacks.

Peter Crag scored a brilliant goal, lofting the ball over the ‘keeper and into the top corner to give his side a six-goal lead.

Keswick pulled one back through Thomas Atkinson, but they knew they were playing for pride in the second half.

The visitors had a period of pressure for five minutes after their goal, but were unable to make anything of it.

Castletown’s Lewis Ridley scored a final goal for the home side, before Jonathan Speck got a second goal for Keswick.

Castletown deserved the win, as they had a solid and organised defence, and they continually threatened Keswick’s goal.

Keswick improved vastly in the second half and they will be disappointed that they threw it away so early.

Thomas Graham was the visitors man of the match, while left winger Peter Crag was Castletown’s best player.
