Community policeman: Mark Hutchinson, the new Aspatria PCSO

PCSO Hutchinson will begin work on his own next week but has already been getting to know the community.

Mr Hutchinson, 37, used to be manager of an outdoor clothing shop in Keswick.

He said: “I could have happily gone on doing that for the next 20 years but I decided I wanted something more challenging.”

He said he was already getting comments from Aspatria people about how good it was to see a police uniform on the streets.

He added: “I will be spending the great majority of my time in Aspatria. We are looking at setting up a room in the library but I’ll be on the street too and people can approach me with any concerns.”

PCSO Hutchinson is married with four children. He is a keen hill and fell walker and enjoys rugby.
