Support needed

IT was with dismay that I read the news that the Citizens’ Advice Bureau is struggling to raise financial support in these difficult times (Courant, November 14).

CAB nationally, not just in Tynedale, provides an invaluable service to people who for one reason or another are experiencing difficulties whether it be financial, personal, legal or consumer. The group of well-trained advisers, all volunteers, give of their best to try to ensure that their clients are supported and means are found to help them to resolve their difficulties. People turn to CAB because it is a trusted organisation and is impartial.

It always has been a national disgrace that this much-used service is not Government funded; a fact which many may not realise.

In times, when more and more people are experiencing problems, especially with increasing debts, it is a disgrace that the council does not see that in the long term giving CAB a greater level of financial support will help it as it would have fewer difficulties to try to resolve itself.

1 feel sure that tax payers would see that, for once, their money was being used in a really useful way and residents of Tynedale could rely on the continued services of a valued organisation.
