Rascals who blazed a trail for Cumbrian bands

WE ARE gradually coming to the end of the Cumbrian groups from the Sixties (unless of course, you know different) but we still have a few to feature from Alastair Duncan’s and John Fisher’s amazing website www.fenderstrat.co.uk
Frankie and the Rascals were trail blazers as they travelled all over Cumberland, the north east, Lancashire and into Scotland. They worked with many of the top acts of the day. They had a fresh, unique, style and their presentation was original. June Brown, known as ‘Little June’, could have made the big time. She had many offers of jobs with broadcasting bands but she turned them down because of family considerations. June was declared Queen of Clubs in Carlisle in 1962 and is still performing today. She is often to be seen at the Gunners Club in Workington. The late Tommy Brown, the accordionist, was also June's husband.
Joe Delin is another superb vocalist who is still in demand and performs as far afield as Spain. Tommy Elwood was a first class drummer. Brian Pritt played rhythm guitar and Frankie Pritt was the multi-talented comic, vocalist and band leader.
