Yet another away cup tie

YET another away fixture in a cup competition faces Workington Reds tomorrow.
This time Darren Edmondson’s men are travelling to Tamworth in the first round of the FA Trophy.
Midfielder Craig Johnston will definitely miss the trip as he starts a three-match suspension after receiving a straight red against Farsley Celtic two weeks ago.
Edmondson is hoping he can secure a deal to bring Shaun Vipond to the club full-time.
The 19-year-old has been on loan from Carlisle Utd but his two-month deal expired last weekend.
Edmondson has been in talks with him and it’s just a waiting game to see if he will sign.
Australian midfielder Chris Hayton has been training with the club this week and is likely to be tested in a few reserves games before any decision is made on his future.
He joined up with the squad earlier in the week after moving to Distington to stop with his granddad.
Lee Andrews is having a scan on his knee on Monday. The defender needs to have an operation next month to correct an uncomfortable cartilage problem.
Edmondson said he is likely to be out for at least a month. He said: “It will be a blow to lose Lee and fingers crossed it will be a straightforward operation and he will be back early next year.
“There are good signs. There is no swelling and his mobility is fine but it is uncomfortable for him.”
Reds drew 4-4 last weekend with Hyde United despite leading 4-3 with less than 15 minutes to go.
Edmondson said: “We showed a bit of naivety by not closing the game out. Hopefully the lads will have learnt their lesson.”
This weekend he is not expecting an easy match, and added: “We are going there to win. It will be nice to progress and get some needed funds into the club but it won’t be easy.”
