Lord and Lady continue as Georgian Fair patrons

LORD and Lady Judd are to continue as patrons of the Cockermouth Georgian Fair for the next 18 months.

The couple, who live in the Lorton Valley, will promote the bi-annual event at functions throughout next year.

The Georgian Fair committee thanked Mr and Mrs Judd for their efforts at the last fair at a celebration dinner held at the Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater.

The couple were presented with a framed photograph of themselves in Georgian costume at the gates of Cockermouth Castle, as well as an album of other images from the May fair.

Changes to the committee have occurred after chairman and overall co-ordinator of the fair, Chris George, stepped down in July.

Anne Meeghan has taken over as chairwoman and Margaret Green as secretary.

The committee is still looking for a co-ordinator, and is looking for further help from the town’s businesses and other local groups before the next Georgian Fair on May 1, 2010.
