MIXING bowls at the ready and wooden spoons to the fore, Christmas puddings will be stirred at the Sunday club this week at 9.30am in the school hall. All little chefs welcome.
THE mother and toddler group is holding a Christmas coffee morning on Tuesday, November 25. Coffee, tea, and cakes (we do love cakes in the ’Shire!) will be served from 9am until noon; drop in and sample the delights. There will be a stall selling Phoenix cards and wrapping paper and another selling Peruvian knitwear, cosmetics and jewellery from Virgin Vie. Come and do some Christmas shopping in the parish hall and help the toddlers raise some money.
THE school hall will be festooned with holly, ivy and greenery on Thursday, December 4, at 7pm, when you can make a festive wreath for your door or a marvellous centre piece for your table. Everything will be provided and there will be guidance too. This is a wonderful evening of creativity and chatter, raising money for school funds. For more information contact Silva or the school.
MANY well-known ’Shire folk are starring in the panto The Adventures of Sinbad, produced by the Queen’s Hall Theatre Club at the Queen’s Hall, Hexham. Written and directed by David Nixon, it features fun, frolics, Eastern dancers, snakes and camels – everything a panto should contain. Performances are on December 5 & 6, at 7pm, with a Saturday matinee performance at 2pm. Tickets can be ordered from Sinbad’s agent Greg Finch on (01434) 607490.
NORTHUMBERLAND Theatre Company presents Straw Headed Peter on Friday, December 12, in the parish hall. Contact Rob Gardner on (01434) 673483 for tickets.
DON’T forget – on Saturday, December 6, St Helen’s will be running a market stall and Sunday, December 7 is the date for the school Christmas fair.
AT the November meeting of Hexhamshire Parish Council, Malcolm Caisley informed the meeting that the Hexhamshire website had successfully bid for an Awards for All lottery grant of £500. Consequently, the site can now go live in the near future. Watch this space for more details. Andrew Nixon also informed the council that the sports field was extremely wet and that the drains would need some attention and clearing.
