Fixture headache grows

THE COUNTY Cup programme was all but washed out last weekend, meaning ties will, hopefully, be staged tomorrow.

The only County Cup to be played was a St Margaret Mary’s pitch – to the astonishment of visiting Frizington Whitestar, the pitch was declared playable.

Credit to both sides for playing the fixture in the spirit they did as the weather was atrocious.

St Margaret Mary’s took the lead but two goals from Dean Rodgers and one from Alan Blair put Frizington through 3-1.

The County Cup rearranged fixtures mean only three survive in tomorrow’s Tesco Cumberland programme.

Tesco fixtures – Premier: Aspatria v Cleator Moor Celtic.

ISS Waterers Peter Dawson Benevolent Cup round two: Frizington Whitestar v Parton Utd.

AP and J Brown Builders Divisional Cup: St Margaret Mary’s v Windscale.
