Penrith progressed to the next round of the league cup with a comprehensive victory over league leaders Consett.
They took the lead in the eighth minute when Michael Reid fed Joe Blaylock, who in turn found Michael Brown who finished with a crisp shot.
On 23 minutes Dan Robinson doubled the advantage with a tremendous shot from fully 25 yards.
The home side were now in the ascendency and Reid and Wayne Robertson both went close to adding to the advantage.
Dickman was booked for the visitors for a fierce tackle on Douglas.
Consett started the second half strongly and pushed Penrith back. The tackling was fierce and Dickman was sent off on the hour for a second yellow card for a rash challenge.
Numbers were evened up however within a minute when Brown was shown a straight red card for dissent towards the referee.
He in turn seemed to have lost control for a while and it seemed likely that others would be leaving the field of play before the final whistle.
Penrith defended strongly against Consett pressure in the last half hour and James Holland on his recall to the sticks made a superb save when tipping a fierce shot over the bar for a corner.
Skipper Mark Jones was booked for kicking the ball away but Penrith sealed the victory with a third goal on 85 minutes when a cross to the far post found Douglas who pulled the ball back to Willie Paul who finished in style.
Douglas and Reid were immediately replaced by Ryan Errington and Mattie Lee.
Team: Holland, Lynn, Jones, Robertson, Thornton, Paul, Brown, Blaylock, Reid, Robinson, Douglas. Subs: Errington, Frampton, Gray, Lee, Taylor.
