Morton Manor won their way through to the second round of the league cup after beating Harraby Catholic in an exciting game at, Chances Park, which yielded eight goals.
Harraby got off to a dream start and took a two-nil lead but Morton fought back, to lead three-two, before Harraby equalised just before half time.
The second half could have gone either way with both teams creating chances but it was the home team that added a further two and eventually won by five goals to three.
The game began at a high tempo with both sets of players attempting to control and pass the ball despite the heavy conditions caused by the wind and rain.
Ben Davidson had an early chance, for Morton, but Harraby goalkeeper, Glen Stephens, made a good save.
The Harraby players battled hard in mid-field and it paid off when Aaron Newton gave them an early lead which they doubled- shortly after- when Jordan Brown stormed through from the right back position to score with a terrific right foot shot.
The play was end to end with both goalkeepers making saves and both sets of defenders getting in last ditch tackles. Morton had a spell when they were slightly on top and they pulled a goal back through Cameron Keal. Morton continued to play neat and precise football and two goals from Ben Davidson put them in the lead for the first time.
Harraby bravely hit back and a goal from Joe Heap levelled the scores and it was all square at 3-3 when the half time whistle sounded.
The second half opened with Morton forcing corners and creating shooting opportunities but Harraby defended well with Stephens handling well even though Bradley Sword did come to his rescue when he headed off the goal line to prevent a certain goal. Morton where not to be denied however and a bout of accurate passing led to Davidson netting his hat-trick to put them in front for the second time.
Aaron Newton was always dangerous and his strong running up the right flank caused problems in the home defence.
In fact it was Newton who had a good chance to equalise, when Ethan Schwenke, crossed from the right but the eventual header drifted over the bar.
Morton attacked down both flanks with Matthew Storey dominant on the right and Kyle Stewart on the left.
Both tried to find Davidson and the Harraby defence was troubled by their slick passes.
Morton eventually wrapped the game up when Davidson cleverly dribbled his way past two defenders after receiving the ball from Stewart.
There did not appear to be much on when the free scoring striker received the ball but he proceeded to take on defenders before slipping the ball past Stephens for his fourth goal.
There was no further scoring and a thrilling cup tie finished with Morton Manor beating Harraby Catholics by five goals to three.
