George bags two GB tries

SEATON amateur rugby league star Richard George bagged a brace of tries as Barla Great Britain saw off the challenge of the South African Rhinos.

George came on off the bench in the 74-4 rout and soon made his presence felt, watched by a four-figure crowd at Craven Park, Hull.

The Rhinos got off to a poor start in the second half, conceding three tries in the opening nine minutes.

And the second of those saw some superb running and handling from GB that led to George bagging his first touchdown.

George then went on to score try number 11 for Britain following a great break through the Rhinos’ defence from Castleford Panthers’ Luke Varley.

Kells’ Scott Lofthouse was also in the Barla side, along with fellow Cumbrian Craig Wilson, of Millom, who also bagged a try.

All the players were presented with medals at the end of the clash by former Hull legends Colin Hutton and John Whiteley.
