Aspatria go six clear at top of premier division

Aspatria have moved six points clear at the top of the Tesco Cumberland County League’s Premier Division.
They had a very convincing 9-2 victory over Silloth with goals from Craig Wilson (3), Richard Hudson (2), Ben Gregory (2), Eddie Harrison and Daryl Creighton.
Cleator Moor Celtic were also well beaten, losing 5-0 to Cockermouth as Dean Wainwright, Keith Skillen, Martin Thompson, Garry Hodgson and John Smith scored the goals.
Salterbeck bounced back from the disappointment of the County Cup and beat Wigton Harriers 5 - 2 . Pick of the goals was the one from Andrew Rowntree which has been described as a contender for goal of the season.
First Division Bransty progressed in the Conway Cup with a 5-2 victory over Premier League neighbours Whitehaven Miners.
John Ryan Milburn fired Miners in front and everything looked good after they gave up home advantage, but Bransty's prolific hit man Ryan Cornish drew them level on 26 minutes.
Martin Rossi restored the lead for Miners before the break, but Bransty came out the stronger and ran away with it as Cornish added his second of the game, while Mark Callum, Ricky McGuinness and Chris Armstrong went on to score as well.
In the Peter Dawson ISS Waterers Benevolent Cup Windscale were beaten by the holders Netherhall, 3-0 as Mark Smith (2) and Keith Anderson found the target.
and Mark Smith 2 netted.
Wigton Athletic went down 5-2 at home to Whitehaven AFC with Michael Clarke and Tom Wright netting for the home side but no scores were forthcoming from Whitehaven.
