Jimmy Henshaw tribute concert this Sunday
Last updated 23:09, Sunday, 23 November 2008
Timeline is hosting a charity concert at Harraby Catholic Club this Sunday, November 30 in memory of one of Cumbria’s finest musicians, Jimmy Henshaw.
It promises to be a great afternoon of 60s nostalgia.
The concert starts at 1pm and heading the line-up will be Rue and the Rockets, great friends of Jimmy and his wife Linda. Also performing will be Cumbria’s King of Swing, Tony Johnston.
The compere for the afternoon will be the ‘world’s oldest man’ - Radio Cumbria’s Joe Costin.
During the past few months Jimmy’s close friend, Tom Tyson, from the Music Farm in Egremont, has been compiling a CD which features the last songs Jimmy recorded.
A host of Jimmy’s friends are featured on this CD which we hope to launch at the concert, proceeds of which will be going to the two charities Linda has chosen - the Cumberland Infirmary and Carlisle Cathedral.
Tickets cost £5 and can be obtained from Harraby Catholic Club, News & Star, Bank Street office or Dalston Road or by phoning 01228 612680.
Cheques to be made payable to Cumbrian Newspapers Ltd.
