Woman in hospital after Workington house blaze

A Workington woman is being treated in hospital following a fire at a house in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to the property on Mossbay Road at 1am after a blaze broke out in a downstairs utility room.

A woman was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven by ambulance suffering from smoke inhalation.

Her condition is not yet known.

Two appliances from Workington contained the fire in the utility room and extinguished the flames, using a hose reel.

They returned to the station at 2am.
