'We play better wearing Carlisle united kit'

Carlisle United’s colours are now flying in the Rainbow Nation thanks to a kit donation from the Blues to a team of South African youngsters.

Looking good: African footballers show off their Carlisle United kit

The team, from the Swartland, previously had no kit and often play in bare feet. Now they are resplendent in the white strip which will be forever linked with United’s 2005/6 League Two title-winning season.

The Cumbrians arranged the kit donation via a Rotary-led school trip. “We want to thank the kind people in Carlisle United who gave us these shirts,” said Zatu, one of the young players. “We play better when we are wearing the Carlisle kit.”
