Workington's Aussie star Chris Young is heading for Craven Park to boost newly-promoted Barrow’s NL1 challenge – and Raiders’ pack veteran Mike Whitehead is poised to sign for Town.
Highly-rated Young, 22, signed for Town during last season and became one of their top pack performers at prop or second row.
There will be no overseas quota problem as he was born in Bury and has an English passport.
Whitehead, 30, is set to pen a deal with the Derwent Park outfit after spending two terms with the Raiders. He also had a spell with NL1 Whitehaven.
Whitehead won two consecutive player-of-the-year awards for Barrow in his 10-years service there and said that his decision to join Town in NL2 had not been influenced by Raiders winning promotion to NL1.
He added: “It is nothing to do with the club or league we’re in. I’m signing a one-year deal with Town on Sunday.”
Barrow chairman Des Johnston said: “We wish Mike well in the future and want to thank him for his services to the Barrow club over the years.”
