Dearham Rangers A 3 Whitehaven Miners 2
Both teams deserved a share of the spoils in this U10 League Cup first round tie.
Within seconds Rangers went ahead with a superb side shot from Jonathan McAllister and minutes later they increased their lead further when Robbie Holt’s low and hard shot found the back of the net.
Despite having many more chances on goal the score still remained 2-0 going into half-time.
In the second half it was Miners’ turn to go on the attack, producing some good football and it was inevitable they would score.
After many shots were hit wide or saved by keeper Callum Irving, they managed to pull a goal back and then went on to draw level.
A long hard battle commenced and it looked as though it was going to go to extra time when, with one minute remaining, a bounce ball was given from which Rangers’ Lewis Brown launched the ball into the penalty area finding Macauley Hannah waiting to coolly drive the ball home to win the game.

Dearham Rangers A 6
Rangers really took the game to Calder in the U10 league and came away with an impressive victory.
An all-round outstanding team performance in a four-goal advantage by half-time after a superb long-range shot from Lewis Brown, a sliding header from Robbie Holt and a further two on-target shots from Holt.
In the second half Rangers continued to dominate, putting pressure on the Calder goal, and only the heroics of the Calder keeper kept the goal tally from going into double figures.
Calder battled well, managing to pull one back, but they were no match for Rangers who went on to put the game out of reach with another goal each from Holt and Brown.
Workington A 3
St Bees 1
Workington played host to St Bees in this U12 League Cup match and some good football was produced by both these committed teams.
