Wigton Athletic beaten 8-3 by Windscale

Only five matches went ahead in the Tesco Cumberland County League with the weather once again playing havoc.

As the clubs approach week seven there are already more than 50 matches to rearrange.

Although only two matches went ahead in Division One they had 17 goals between them.

Whitehaven AFC hit in six with no reply against St. Margaret Mary's with Darren Donald (2), Luke Smith, Kevin Holliday, Stuart Shaw and Stephen Priestley all on target.

The other 11 goals came in the match where Windscale beat Wigton Athletic 8-3. Lee Stainton (4), Shaun Pollen (3) and Mark Hartley scored for Windscale with Alex Crawford (2) and Gary Armstrong hitting the target for Wigton.

Premier Division games at Salterbeck, Parton and St Bees were lost to the weather.

Kevin Thompson and Gareth Hill scored for Aspatria in their 2-0 victory at Cockermouth that kept them top of the table, but only on goal difference from Netherhall.

The champions ran out 3-1 winners over Silloth with goals from Mark Smith, Nick Holden and Karl Fillingham. Silloth’s reply came from Gary Jones.
