COCKERMOUTH’S new-look market place will host another farmers’ market tomorrow.
The event is being held in the newly revamped market place, which has undergone a £1.2 million facelift, including the installation of controversial colourful resin seats which cost almost £60,000.
The market, organised by Made in Cumbria, is a popular event in the town, selling a wide variety of goods, including jewellery, toiletries, jams and preserves, all produced in the county.
Thousands of people visit the Made in Cumbria markets held throughout Cumbria, and according to a study by the Countryside Alliance, every £10 spent at the markets is worth £25 to the county’s economy, compared with only £14 generated by the same amount spent in a supermarket.
