Now they want to share IT

ALLERDALE council’s watchdog will examine the case for it and Carlisle City Council sharing its IT services.
Savings of £2.23 million could be made over six years if the services are shared, Allerdale said and £750,000 would have to be invested, but that would lead to a 197 per cent return.
The corporate overview and scrutiny committee, which meets at 10am today at Allerdale House, will look at the business case and talk to officers involved.
A report to the committee says the project is not without risks because “it relies heavily on staff savings”.
The conclusion of the report states that a sharing of services would improve efficiency and create more opportunities.
