Goals galore in Tesco

GOALS from Gavin Manchester and Martin Thompson took Cockermouth to a 2-1 win in the Tesco premier division at Salterbeck, who replied with a strike from Andrew Rowntree.
In other mid-week games Aspatria romped to a 4-0 win away at Cleator Moor Celtic thanks to goals from Richard Hodgson (2), Kenneth Bowes and Mark Irwin.
And there was a 3-0 home victory for Netherhall over Whitehaven Miners, the goals coming from Keith Anderson, Will Heaney and Karl Fillingham.
Mirehouse v Frizington Whitestar was postponed.
In division one mid-week St Margaret Mary’s and Carlisle City drew 1-1, Carl Graham scoring for St Margaret and Ollie Driver for City.
Whitehaven AFC put 11 goals past Wigton Athletic who replied with a single strike. Whitehaven goals came from Mark Moore, Andy Darling (3), Kevin Connoly (4) and Kevin Holliday (3).
St Bees were 2-0 winners at Windscale with goals from Adam Jackson and Dan Tyre.
Bransty Rangers were 6-3 winners at home against Parton Utd. Ryan Cornish hit four for Bransty while Brian Armstrong and Gavin Bainbridge scored their others. Kyle Jenkins Young, Stephen Nelson and Thomas Hodgson were on target for Parton.
In Saturday’s matches, Wigton Athletic again lost to a high score, this time in their AP&J Brown Divisional Cup round one first leg game against Hearts of Liddlesdale, going down 10-1.
In the CVR Whitehaven Cup round one there was a 3-0 win for Cockermouth over Mirehouse, Cleator Moor Celtic won 2-0 at Windscale, St Margaret Mary’s beat Wigton Harriers 2-1, and Whitehaven Miners v Carlisle City was postponed.
In the premier division Aspatria won at Longtown 1-0, Netherhall hammered Silloth 14-1, Karl Fillingham netting five, and Salterbeck beat Frizington Whitestar 3-2.
