Blyth Town 1 Gillford Park 2: Following their midweek three-goal win against neighbours and previous table toppers Harraby Catholic Club, Gillford Park were looking to extend their own unbeaten start to the season away at Blyth Town, but just before the half hour mark it was the home side who opened the scoring.
A defence-splitting past through the centre allowed Geoff Fuller some time and space to sweep the ball home beyond the reach of Jack Twentyman.
There were ten minutes on the clock of the second period before Gillford came back to notch an equaliser.
A Steve Skinner corner was met by Johnson and his deflected header fell kindly at the feet of Stuart Moffatt who scored from close range.
Then in the 67th minute several interchanging passes between Moffatt and Skinner eventually left the latter free on the edge of the area to shoot home for what proved to be the winning goal.
But in the final stages the visitors were indebted to keeper Twentyman for maintaining their slot at the head of the table with two timely saves to preserved his sides single goal lead at the end, one was with his legs after a shot had been deflected in the other direction.
Carlisle City 1-1 Heddon
Two-goals from Graeme Lupton and a sin gle strike from Ian Cummersky in midweek gave Carlisle City their first away win of the season at Wark but there was little to choose between City and visitors Heddon at the Sheepmount until Graeme Lupton shot City ahead on the stroke of half time.
City played confidently and the visitors found it difficult to break down their defence but City suffered a double blow in the last quarter when they lost both Tom Foster and Jamie Hubner through injury.
Their depleted defence still coped well until the 81st minute when Ian McElroy scored from the spot after a colleague had been upended in the area by home keeper Dougie Lindsay.
