PETER Brown landed carp for 13lb 3ozs to take the Carlisle & District AC event at Broom Fisheries, Annan.
Pete fished two sections of pole with paste on the hook to take the majority of his fish.
Carlisle’s Warren Richardson was only ounces behind in second place with 12lb 14oz pole caught carp using paste as bait.
John Brooks was third with 6lb of carp caught using the same tactics.
With two matches to go in the CADCAC Summer League, Keswick’s Bob Youdale leads the field with Neil Rudd in second and Warren Richardson lying third.
At Whins Pond on Tuesday evening, Barry Whear fished short pole to hand in the margins and caught 6lb 6oz of silver fish on maggot to give him his first win of the season.
Next door, on peg seven, Ian Corri also used maggot in the margins, adopting a whip and later medium pole. Ian matched Barry fish for fish but found them difficult to tempt towards the end of the match. He finished just a few fish behind with 5lb 15oz.
This gave him six league points and puts him three points behind leader Dave Wardman (who failed to catch). Just one match remains.
Match organiser Glen Martin was on peg five and targeting bigger fish. With just 10 minutes to go, he landed a bream of 4lb 14oz on a mini boilie to take third place.
Steve Cooper had 4lb 12oz of skimmers fishing feeder on peg one for fourth.
The ‘Snowball final’ is on Sunday, September 14, draw 8am, fish 9am til 3pm, qualifiers must have fished ten or more Tuesday night matches.
This Sunday sees a float only Open event at Whins Pond. Angers may use pole and waggler only.

Local rod David Savage fished a purple Ally’s Shrimp fly in the Tail of Linky on the Armathwaite beat of the Low House Estate water on the River Eden last Thursday, and hooked his first-ever salmon weighing a very impressive 19lb.
On Friday, John McClay spun a copper Toby at Island Foot on the Carrnook beat of the Low House water and landed a six-and-a-half pounder.
Pom Davidson of Brough also used a copper Toby to good effect landing a brace of grilse, a four-pounder in Nichol Hole and a six-pounder in the Tail of Bransty. Armathwaite’s Mike Noble landed a brace of six-pounders, one in Tobies Hole and one in Nichol Hole on a Twinkly Tube a fly of his own creation.
Mike’s son David got in on Friday’s action at Low House, fishing Nichol Hole with a black and gold Toby David landed a 12 pounder. On Sunday it was Mike’s turn again with a 15 pounder caught on a Cascade in the Tail of Bransty.
The Yorkshire Fly Fishers beat of the Eden at Wetheral reported good fishing when river conditions allowed, one of the best catches being reported by Colin Brown who landed 3 salmon one day and one the next. Colin’s catch consisted of fish of 16lb, 9lb and two grilse.
Other members report catches of single fish up to 16lb in weight and the thought is that catch returns were not reflecting the amount of fish running the river during the last week.
All of the grilse caught were fresh run fish but some of the larger salmon were a little coloured indicating that they had been in the river a week or two.
At Warwick Hall this week Nick Meeks landed salmon of 14, 10 and 6lb on a Flying C fished in Jackies on Wednesday Simon Barr also used the same tactics there to land a 9lb fish.
On Thursday Nick was back in action with a four pounder and Carl Brown land 3 at that weight all in the us hes. On Friday Robin Gillett landed an eight-pounder in the Garden Wall, James Harrison took a brace of six-pounders and Phil Gardner one of the same weight in the House Pool all on Flying C’s.
John Gaynor had a fly caught seven-pounder in the Rushes.
On Saturday Nadine Lee also used the fly in Jackies to land a fish of 6lbs.
Harrington Sea Angling Club’s latest match was fished on the North Heads St Bees on Saturday night, fishing from 8pm to midnight however strong winds, driving rain and heavy seas made fishing extremely difficult for the 9 anglers taking part.
Only four fish, three cod and one rockling were caught due to the dreadful conditions.
In joint first place were Barry McGlasson and Darren Pape who each caught a cod weighing 4lb 10oz. In second place was Phil Sibbald with a cod weighing 3lb 6oz and Alan Hill was third with an 8oz rockling.
