Gloves are off says Taylor

The Blues are smarting from Tuesday’s 4-0 Carling Cup hiding at QPR and Taylor said John Ward’s team are ready to bounce back in style against the Glovers.

And the former Scunthorpe man, who will start his first league game of the season in the absence of banned Scott Dobie, insists he is ready to make it impossible for Ward to drop him again.

Taylor, who impressed at Loftus Road despite Carlisle’s heavy defeat, said: “We were gutted at how it turned out on Tuesday because we started so well and a half-time we were well in the game.

“QPR showed their quality in the second half and it hurts to lose like that. But we’re still unbeaten in the league and we’ve got to go and take it out on Yeovil.

“Saturday is a different game and we’ve got to get the points.”

January recruit Taylor endured a difficult start to life at Brunton Park last term, when he says he was always battling for fitness after spending a long stint out of favour at Glanford Park and then being laid low by a virus shortly before signing for United.

But the 24-year-old said he is feeling the benefits of a full pre-season this time around and can now make up for lost time down United’s right wing.

“It was good to be out there on Tuesday,” Taylor said. “Now I want to stay in the team - that’s what I’m here to do.

“I’ve had to bide my time, but I got a good pre-season behind me, I’ve worked really hard on my fitness so I’ve got to take my chance when it comes.

“I feel much fitter, I can last 90 minutes no problem, I can get up and down the pitch which I need to do in my position.

“I’ve got to do a job in there, help the team and make it hard for the manager to drop me.”

Manager Ward also saluted Taylor’s display at Loftus Road and believes the Leicester-born player can have a big impact on Carlisle’s season.

“Cleveland has been quietly sat there waiting for his chance, and he has done well,” said Ward.

“The crowd shouted their appreciation at the end of Tuesday’s game, and he is getting ours as well. I haven’t got many players and they all get their opportunity down the line. Cleveland has said, ‘I want to have a go at this’ and he has done well for me. I’m pleased with him.”

Chef John Crouch says we should forage our food from nature. Would you ever do that?

Yes, it would be fresh and healthy

No, I don't have the time so I'll stick to my tins and processed stuff

Maybe, if I could find the time to go and find it
