FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a derelict Workington pub last night.
They were called out to The Westfield, in Wastwater Avenue, at about 7.30pm after youngsters spotted smoke and raised the alarm.
It took about an hour-and-a-half to put the fire out. No-one was inside the building.
The fire service said fire damage was limited to the ground floor of the concrete building although the first floor windows were blown out because of heat and the first floor was smoke-damaged.
Two pumps and 10 firefighters attended. Firefighters said the building was well alight on arrival and thick black smoke was coming from the building.
Police, who also attended, are investigating.
