Cleator beat the weather and Isel

ONLY three games went ahead this week in the West Allerdale and Copeland Cricket Association – as the weather put paid to eight more.
Cleator picked up points in the southern section of the Kirkland Carpets Plate, when they saw off the challenge of Isel I.
Chris Hodgson retired on 26 as Cleator posted 103, aided by Tom Sharpe and Andy Hodgson, who both retired on 25.
In reply, James Gate was unbeaten on 24 but Isel could not reach their target, closing on 81.
In the northern section of the competition, Broughton were 95-4 in their clash with Baggrow and Blennerhasset, who could only muster 55 in reply.
Dave Smith top scored with 26 retired for Broughton, while Gary Swanston added 25 and also claimed 3-8.
In the Derwent section of the Forth Engineering Cup, it was Cockermouth Colts who came out on top of Royal George.
Neil Carruthers led the Royal George charge with 25 retired as his side went on to make 99-4, Andy Davidson adding 20 and Chris Simon unbeaten on 20.
Ryan Carruthers took to the crease for Cockermouth Colts and retired on 30, before Steve Chambers took on the challenge and was unbeaten on 24 as he led them to victory on 100-5.
