ECB to ponder Pakistan Champions’ Trophy trip

THE England and Wales Cricket Board face a dilemma today when they discuss whether to send a team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next month.

England’s one-day players gave their views, expressing fear over security in a country which has suffered numerous terrorist attacks in the last year, during a meeting with International Cricket Council chief executive Haroon Lorgat.

Lorgat is due to present his report to the ECB board at Lord’s this morning, after which Lorgat will hold a press conference where some details of the discussions should emerge.

England’s new captain Kevin Pietersen is satisfied the ECB have listened to the players’ concerns before they make their decision.

“The (ECB) board is going to make a decision and we were fortunate to have a few members of the board at our meeting,” said Pietersen.

“It’s a big decision for the board to make and the players have said whatever they needed to say. I’m going to keep what the players think in the dressing room and the board will make a decision.”
