The current holders hosted Dalton and put their visitors in to bat first, restricting them to 188-9, only opener Sam Costa putting up resistance with 60 before he was bowled out by Simon James, who closed with figures of 4-60.

Moffat’s innings then put Workington on track before he fell on 52, lbw to Justin Quint. But Matthew Gorley took up the challenge and he saw them home, unbeaten on 32.

Third-placed Millom also picked up an 18-point haul and closed the gap on second-placed Cleator to five points, when they defeated Carlisle by six wickets.

Carlisle pro Usman Saeed proved a stumbling block for the Millom bowling attack before he was finally caught out on 54.

The rest of the Carlisle attack struggled to get going and they closed on 130-8.

Millom lost their openers early on but number three Stuart Swallow steadied the ship with a fine 54 and despite being bowled his innings was enough to help Millom on to a winning total of 134-4.

Cleator met their match when they travelled to fourth-placed Penrith and it was the home side who took the spoils.

Batting first Cleator were all out for 194, Simon Wilson top scoring with 48 and Tom Benn unbeaten on 47.

The damage was done by Kris McLean who claimed a four wicket haul, for the loss of 54 runs, with Nick Tuer taking 3-38.

McLean then opened Penrith’s batting with a strong 39 before Alex Atkinson brought them home with an unbeaten 75, on 198-5.

Keswick had a narrow one wicket victory to show for their trip to Duddon SC in an extremely low scoring game.

Bowlers were always on top in this clash with Duddon falling for just 53, Keswick pro Dinuka Hettiarachchi claiming 5-8 in a great spell.

In reply, Keswick sneaked home on 54 with one wicket to spare, despite the best efforts of Gary Stevenson, who picked up six victims for just 13 runs.

Haverigg collected a winning draw in their game with Cockermouth after putting 229-3 on the scoreboard for Cockermouth to chase.

Sridharan Sriram, the Haverigg pro was the mainstay of their innings with an unbeaten 102.

Hugh Gimber opened for Cockermouth with 36 before he was caught out and then Ian Buchanan added a further 32 but they fell short of their target on 150-5 with Gareth White at the crease on 28.

Whitehaven and Furness played out a rain affected draw at the Playground with the home side taking 11 points and Furness 10.

Batting first on their own track, Whitehaven were dismissed for 157, pro Jeewantha Saliyasanan top scoring 31, assisted by opener Jonny Bruce with 30.

Stuart Horne, with 4-55 and Peter Lawson, with 4-34 were the top bowlers for Furness, who started well with a 35 from Mark Daly but they closed on 147-8.

In division one, Wigton are still on course for the title after a five wicket win over Vickerstown.

The South Cumbrians were dismissed for 100, as Glenn Liddle took a six wicket haul for the loss of 36 runs. Wigton’s Steven Murdock saw them take victory thanks to his innings of 40 not out that brought them home on 102-5.

Lindal Moor kept right on their heels though with victory over fourth-placed Workington Seconds.

Workington opener Jordan Whinn put on 39 but he struggled to keep partners and the side faltered to 101-8.

John Atkinson, with 4-14 and Peter Armistead’s 3-26, did the damage for Lindal, who remain one point behind Wigton, after reaching 104-3 to win.

Kirkby, who started the day on level points with Lindal, would be relieved their match was abandoned for rain as they sat precariously on 80-9, with Appleby Eden having previously set a target of 217-6.

Cleator Seconds were victorious over Ulverston, who were all out for 127. In reply Cleator, led by a 46 from Steve Wishart, hit 128-7 to claim the win.

Egremont were dismissed with 118 in their game with Lanercost, despite a 39 from John Brocklebank.

But Lanercost lost just two wickets in reaching 119 to clinch the win and Keswick Seconds’ clash with Hawcoat Park was abandoned due to rain.
