ONE of Cumbria’s luxury hotels is offering sailors a ‘nautical but nice’ way of spending their summer afternoons.
Storrs Hall is providing what it calls the UK’s first ‘Sail-Thru’ full afternoon tea.
Boat users must pre-order and can then can sail up to the hotel’s jetty on Lake Windermere and have afternoon tea delivered straight to the water’s edge.
They will be greeted at the jetty by a waiter armed with a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes served on the best fine bone china and traditional silver tea service on a crisp linen tablecloth.
The new wave in alfresco dining will be available daily, from 2pm until 5pm, £15.50 per person. Call 015394 47111 to book.
The fearsome-sounding Trinidad Scorpion is actually a rare chilli and it will be part of the Chilli Fest at Levens Hall in Kendal. The north’s first chilli festival takes place today and tomorrow from 10am-4pm. Entry is £7.
