Over 35 titles undecided

THE SEASON is drawing to a very tight conclusion in both divisions of the Over 35 League.

In division one Grasslot and Carlisle City are both on 30 points though City have the advantage of a game in hand over the Maryport side.

Both teams had a chance to put some daylight between their rivals when the two teams met at Maryport on Monday. However, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

In division two Whitehaven were blown away by Hall Park who completly dominated the game more than the Ian Mackin goals showed.

Whitehaven completed their fixtures with a 5-2 victory over Howard's Rangers. This moved Whitehaven to the top of the table on 32 points with Penrith second on 30.

However Penrith have two tricky games left to play against Globe who have struck form in the second half of the season.

Indeed, Globe have averaged six goals a game in their last five games so could make things difficult for Penrith.

However the Globe came unstuck last week when they were only able to field seven players against the Bluebell’s 10. Honours went to the Cockermouth team, making the Bluebell fight all the way. Indeed it was all square at 2-2 until 85 minutes when Bob Fowler scored his second goal of the game to give the Workington side three points. Graham McDermott had also scored for the Bluebell.

For the Globe Rab Bower continued his goal-scoring run to take his season’s tally to 13, and Mike Sadler scored direct from the restart following Fowlers first goal.

Bluebell finished their season with a 2-1 victory over Howard's Rangers, for whom Mark Herd scored.

At the bottom end of the table Frostoms had the double put over them by County Cup finalists Moresby.

A 7-1 defeat at Moresby was lightened by Wayne Murray scoring the goal of the game with a 25-yard drive into the top corner.

In the return game at Workington Moresby came out on top 4-1. However a more spirited display from Frostoms was capped by Murray scoring again with a 30-yard chip over the Moresby keeper.
