Wills stays on target for medal

ARCHER Alan Wills – Cumbria’s lone Olympic hopeful – is through to the last 16 of the men’s individual competition.

Wills, above, from Arlecdon, beat two Italians today to clinch his place.

In his first eliminator he saw off Mauro Nespoli 103-99 and then edged Marco Galliazo 110-109.

His second opponent was ranked 12th in the tournament – 10 places ahead of Wills.

Next up for the Cumbrian marksman is Cuba’s Juan Carlos Stevens on Friday.
