Hospital staff must be priority

Regarding the story about hospital staff being offered cash to quit their jobs (News & Star, July 24).

M Simpson of Whitehaven believes it is ‘disgraceful’ to offer hospital staff cash to quit

This is absolutely disgraceful.

They have got to sit down round the table and take a good look at where the money is being wasted and not injected into the nurses.

We in west Cumbria are in a rural area. We need the hospital, we need the staff and we need the facilities to be on the doorstep.

We have gone down this road many, many times. We have had meetings, we have had discussions.

I am a member of PPI and really they are just coming to the limit now when they are expecting staff to be bought off just to save £14m.

There is something seriously wrong with the system and I do hope that they get it back into perspective.

If they didn’t pay so much out to chief executives and hierarchy managers etc then they would have enough money in the kitty.
