A TALLENTIRE teenager’s vision for the Lake District has won her a £200 canoe in a competition.
The Lake District National Park Authority asked under-18s how they wanted the Lake District to look in 20 years as part of its Local Framework Review, which looks at the park’s future.
Rachel Parker, 16, a pupil at Cockermouth School, said she wanted to see a more natural place with no litter, pollution or erosion.
She added: “I think it would be great if there were cheaper houses and more jobs. It would also be fab if more people were able to get to the Lake District by train and bus.”
The authority’s planning and partnerships manager Bob Sutcliffe said her words stood out and he was delighted that she could embark on a new hobby thanks to her win.
