County League chief Doorbar steps down

Colin Doorbar has stood down as chairman of the Tesco Cumberland County League after three years in the post.
Graham Young, the league’s vice chairman and referee’s appointments officer, is to be the acting chairman while press officer Herbert Briggs has stepped-up to be acting vice-chairman.
Briggs said: “We’d just like to thanks Colin for his efforts over the last three years as League chairman and wish him all the best for the future.”
Dale Brotherton, whose own firm Lime House Estates used to sponsor the League, is to be the league’s fixtures secretary.
The new season will start on August 9 with a full programme of matches but the first competitive game will be played on Wednesday, August 6.
League champions Netherhall take-on Aspatria, the Whitehaven Cup winners in the annual Charity Shield game.
The opening League games are – Premier Division: Aspatria v Cleator Moor Celtic reserves; Cockermouth v Frizington White Star; Longtown v Mirehouse; Netherhall v Salterbeck; Silloth v Whitehaven Miners.
Division One – Bransty Rangers v Carlisle City reserves; Hearts of Liddlesdale v Wigton Athletic; Parton Utd v St Margaret Mary’s; St. Bees v Whitehaven.
