Busby: Reds are still in the hunt for fresh talent

Workington Reds are still in the market for fresh talent ahead of the new Blue Square North season.
That’s the message from No 2 Viv Busby, who warned that it was not easy to attract players to west Cumbria.
Reds have signed ex-Carlisle United skipper Kevin Gray, currently sidelined with a knee injury, and former Gretna youngster Dan Robinson.
And Busby said: “We could do with a couple more. We have a list that we are working on, and players are trying to get fixed up at the moment. We are competing with other teams and it’s not easy.
“Kev’s going to be a tremendous acquisition when fit. He has great experience and is really good around the place.
“People will respond to the way he plays. He will organise our defence, as we need a bit of a leader in there.
“Hopefully he’s going to be fit because he will be a massive part of our defensive unit. And he can talk to those in front of him as well.
“Dan can play all across midfield and up front as well, obviously. No one is guaranteed a spot, but if people play well, they’re in.”
Reds face Annan tomorrow in their opening match of Athletic’s four-team tournament.
Annan have this week signed ex-Reds second-choice keeper Craig Summersgill, latterly of Newcastle Blue Star, ahead of their inaugural Scottish Football League campaign.
