There were teams from Morton Manor, Crown Newlaithes, Yewdale Pegasus, Dalston, Northbank, Gillford Park, Brampton, Warwick Wanderers, Carlisle City, Abbeytown and Stanwix and over two hundred kids played organised games of football.

The matches were played on a friendly basis so there were no semi-finals or finals but every player taking part received a medal and the event was most enjoyable despite some very wet weather.

Morton Manor Junior Football Club was formed in 1997 by Graeme Hall and Steve Boak and it has grown and grown ever since.

They started with an under ten team but over the years more and more teams have been added and last season there were seven teams playing in the Carlisle Glass League.

Three of those teams played mini-soccer whilst the four older teams played eleven-a-side football. Morton A Under-14s, managed by Kevin Horseman, were triple champions after winning the County Cup on top of the Carlisle Glass League and League Cup.

The team played the whole season without losing a competitive match.

The Club was also very successful off the field as it was named The Community Charter Standard Club of the year by the Cumberland Football Association at a dinner in the Green Hill, Wigton were Chairman Graeme and Secretary Steve were presented with their well deserved award.
